William Optics 10th Anniversary Zenithstar 80mm Fluorite

Post by hatflyer »

How is that scope for AP, versus 1 like the Orion ED80T CF Triplet ?

I believe fluorite is FPL-53.

Thanks.

Fluorite isn’t FPL-53. I think that there’s some confusion because FPL-53 is sometimes marketed as “synthetic fluorite”. You can get as good results from a fluorite doublet as with a triplet containing an FPL-53 element. It should be good.

Also, materials for the glass are second in importance to things like smoothness of figures on the lenses.
