Masterdark frame

Hi there

I'm just a bit confused about the difference between a masterdark and a bunch of dark frames, can you use the single masterdark frame in stacking or do you for example if you collected 10 dark frames do you use them? :?

A master dark is produced when you integrate (stack) a series of dark frames. So if you put 30 individual darks into your stacking programme it will do its stuff and produce a master dark. It will use that masterdsrk to calibrated you light frames as part of the stacking process.

The neat thing is that the next time you are stacking a set of lights with the same exposure, gain and temperature, you can just put in the master dark rather than the individual darks.
