From NASA.com:
"A critical system aboard the probe was sending garbled data about its status. Engineers have fixed the issue but are still seeking the root cause."

Hi Stephen. I am glad to see the engineers fixed the Voyager 1 telemetry data problem This was quite an achievement considering the vehicle is so far out in space and 45 years old. Thanks for finding and sharing this update news link Stephen and I hope they discover the cause to prevent it from happening again.

Amazing article, I remember magnetic tape drives in use in the early 80s. when I was in the service. I've been building computers and programming them since that same timeframe, A part of my degree program included Fortran77 the mid 90s. These computers are phenomenal for what they accomplished and still are. And the tape drive in Voyager is still being used after 45 years! I can't imagine a magnetic tape lasting that long, one crinkle and it's useless. I stored my programming in the 80s on a cassette tape, of course not the same caliber as magnetic reel tape but the same tech, one crinkle and it's shot. And there was no such thing as making a backup copy, analog doesn't copy very well. Simply incredible it's still running...

I hope for a long life and Clear Skies for Voyager, thanks for sharing and taking me on a trip down my memory lane!
