Equipment: Starblast 6i (150mm newt @ f5), 25mm plossl at 31x, graphite pencil and observation log book
The clarity of the moon tonight was unparalleled and nature provided just enough of a breeze to keep the insects at bay in my back yard. The experience was very calm and serene. As I sat there I looked carefully at all the features as I went along noticing quite a bit more than normal most likely do the concentration and wanting to get good details. I imagined the ridges and valleys and those massive basins shaded in gray and wondered what it might look like to stare back at the earth from my own two eyes as I drew. I was mesmerized by the craters especially the big ones where you can clearly see material that was strewn across the face I can see the relation to cheese!
Once done I swung around to Albireo in Cygnus because who doesn't like that beautiful blue and gold double and then took a quick peek at Saturn. I've got a lot of learning technique wise but I found the experience to be very calming and memorable and I hope to do many more to hone my skills (as you can tell they really need it lol).
