NGC 891 [SA(s)b? edge-on] is an attractive and popular target in itself, but about 46 minutes to the southeast (lower left of full image) is Abell 347 galaxy cluster [ACO 347]. Together these targets make a nice composition in a medium/narrow field.
NGC 891 is about 34 million light years distant while ACO 347 cluster center is about 240 million light years distant. Simbad lists the cluster with 57 members - brightest is
NGC 910. The annotated image shows the core area of the cluster whose full extent is quite a bit larger.
There are many background galaxies and Quasars in this field as well. They are best seen in the full resolution image or the annotated image. The most distant Quasar visible in this image field has a redshift of 2.270 and a lookback of about 10.8 billion light years.
Image and details can be accessed at the link below (or by clicking on the
NGC 891 crop below). The annotated image has a link below but it can also be accessed from the main image webpage as well. The full
FOV image can be accessed from the image webpage and has an image scale of about 1.30 arcsec/pixel.
