Celestron wedge at 8.5N

#1

Post by nizamatl@gmai.com »

Thank u for including me here. I am from Trivandrum Kerala where the latitude is 8.5N. I use a celestron 8 Evo telescope. will it be worth to invest in a wedge to go for AP at this latitude? It is understood that the entire telescope system should be tilted to match the latitude. will it create more instabilities and imbalances to the telescope system. Expecting replies from experts here. Thanks in advance.

Yes, unfortunately at your low-latitude your telescope will be mounted in an almost horizontal position. This does increase the imbalances and the strain on the whole system, and creates more problems than it solves.
