UGC 1281

UGC 1281 (PGC 6699 and others) is a low surface brightness, edge-on spiral located approximately 17 million light-years away in Triangulum.

PGC 6700 is the small ball galaxy of unknown type just to the left (east) of UGC 1281. This grouping reminds me of the Whale Galaxy (NGC 4631) and companion.

The bright magnitude 5.75 star at the top right is HIP 8433.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

Imaged November 30th and December 1st, 2021 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.

I rarely leave the realm of Messier objects except for the occasional NGC object. A lot of respect for you folks that go after these faint PGC and Arp objects.
Of course, with 2400mm fl, you have the reach for these tiny objects. Holy cow!...10minute Luminance subs just blows my mind.
