Total Lunar Eclipse - 15/16 May 2022
Hopefully people in the western Hemisphere are gearing up for the total lunar eclipse in a little over two weeks time. Let's hope the weather will be cooperative for most. Here is some info for you and good luck if you pursue observation/imaging.

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse - 15/16 May 2022
It was, sadly, too cloudy here. The Allsky camera picked up a few breaks in the cloud as the moon moved around the southern horizon, but the cloud thickened after 1 in the morning. I also had a security cam trained on the SW horizon in anticipation - no hope!

I'll have to check for any local club reports. It was 100% overcast when I went to bed, but clear early this morning. Don't know when the clouds moved out.

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse - 15/16 May 2022
We had thunderstorms here until early morning...about 2:30 am. I did get an opening at about 1 am and first sighted Antares and the partially eclipsed Moon through sucker holes at 1:03 am. Had my Brandon 94 ready and able and was able to take a peek at 1:12 am...but by 1:17 am the rain started!!
Hopefully better luck next time.

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse - 15/16 May 2022
I canceled an event due to 4 forecasts calling for clouds/rain at the event site. Thought I might catch it at home. The sky was actually fairly clear and I probably should have set up. I understand the clouds rolled in as predicted - only an hour later - so I would not have seen the Moon enter the umbra. At 1 AM I was up and took a peek - solid clouds. I guess the 12% chance of a clear sky holds in CT.

Mostly cloudy at our place as well. I went out with binos when there was break in the cloud cover but I spent most of the time watching a racoon rob one of our bird feeders.
