Last night after updating the firmware on the HC and motor controller I gave it another try, same error.
I guess it is time to install and learn the CPWI interface

So another bit happier update...
I got and installed the CPWI software and happy to report it works quite well! Solved my side of pier issue and sequence went start to finish with no issues, including flips and target change / aquisition.
But now I cannot figure out how to get it to 'park' at the end of the sequence.
