Day/Night Session

The Sun has been quite active of late, and last night's forecast of favorable skies drove me to get the SVX127/G11 out early in the day for solar observing with a follow-on evening session.

I'm not much into AP (and never will be) but I have access to an older digital camera and snapped a few images of the Sun. There are currently 5 sunspot groups, two of which are pretty robust. The image is attached.

For the evening session I planned to view selected objects in Corvus but also included some (mostly double stars) in Sextans. Corvus has some interesting doubles (Struves 1604, 1659, and 1669) two of which (1604 and 1659) present in the same low power FOV as M104 (the Sombrero galaxy). Those three objects made for an very interesting view!

Doubles in Sextans included: 9, 35, 40, 41 Sextans; STF 1441 and 1447; and Burnham 25.

Overall a great day observing!
