Daystar Filters SolaREDi 80MM Ha Solar Telescope (.5A)
Has anyone used one of these? Having 2 80mm refractors, it may be silly to consider this, but....

Since the objective is f28.5 I'm thinking that it's a single lens refractor. So it would be a pretty well dedicated solar scope.

Wish I could throw in my two cents...
"The Hankmeister" Celestron 8SE, orange tube Vixen made C80, CG4, AZ-EQ5 and SolarQuest mounts.
Too much Towa glass/mirrors.
Solar:
H/A - PST stage 2 mod with a Baader 90mm ERF on a Celestron XLT 102 (thanks Mike!)
Ca-K - W/O 61mm, Antares 1.6 barlow, Baader 3.8 OD and Ca-K filters with a ZWO ASI174mm.
W/L - C80-HD with Baader 5.0 & 3.8 Solar film, Solar Continuum 7.5nm and UV/IR filters with a Canon EOS 550D.

I should have done that, look at the Daystar website. I think it is failure in updating the website. Another example of it's too good to be true, it likely isn't. Sorry for my causing this unwarranted kerfuffle.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 4:57 pm A strange price, is it a return or such? I would call to find out details.

I had the opportunity to use the 127mm f/32 Quantum PE at the solar observatory in Slovakia and the images were amazing.

Also it looks like most of these are available as Chrom or Prom like a Quark so I would ask about that as well.
Other than the high prices of the Quatum filtered I think I would prefer the Coronado offerings.

Well that was interesting... The right person to deal with was out of the building but the kindly person who answered said the scope, perhaps an older model, was still there. The status of Backordered was due possibly to its being on auction at Astromart. I was encouraged to call later or send an email.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 6:21 pm Since it the version that uses a Quark like filter the price may be valid as old stock or a return, I would call Anacortes and find out. The new versions seem to be shorter tube lengths.

It is a fantastic buy.
My only reservation is that it might not produce a full disc image but then there's always focal reducers and stacking programs.

I'm not getting a response on the prom vs chromosphere version, just "for $1000 plus shipping" I can have it. So I'm going to pass.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 7:15 pm Excellent, hopefully it is what you want as the price is quite good for a solar telescope.

Thanks but I might not follow up. This was a fleeting flirtation that momentarily diverted me away from remodeling the Z12. I think its probably better for me to put the money toward that end in preparation for a move a year from now.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 4:16 pm Well that is unfortunate.
