#1

Post by Frankskywatcher »

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy the jumbo edition ?
I have been looking on the internet but no luck and Sky & Telescope’s own site their link takes me to “ page not found “ ?
I understand the jumbo is better for older eyes due to its size .
Thanks in Advance and I’m really enjoying TSS !
Gee if I had known there was so much to see I would have started decades ago ! :Astronomer1:

As far as I can tell, it's out of print. I did find this link for a used copy. A bit pricey, tho...lol...Does it have to be that book? You could look into "Turn Left at Orion" by Guy Consolmagno and David M. Davis or "Nightwatch" by Terrence Dickinsin.

I saw that, again crazy price and the jumbo edition was issued in 2015 ,so I guess that’s the “ newest “ edition but it’s out of print!
Thanks for the help this is a great group,Frank

That’s a great idea if I can’t find the jumbo edition
I have The Backyard Astronomer’s Guide, 4 th edition on the way but it’s a hardcover book,I don’t think it’s suited for the field, I have that and the Guide to the Stars also on the way as well as the Apertura AD 8” scope.
Thanks for being so helpful I appreciate it ,Frank

Here's a post over at CN that lists many free alternatives to the S&T PSA. Check it out.

Also, don't forget that the popular planetarium programs (Stellarium, Cartes du Ciel, SkyTech X) all free, can print out any custom star chart you can think of.

Thank you because for some reason I can not get on to that groups platform and I messaged the Admins but haven’t heard from them.
Every time I try to access it ( it says I joined ) I get this error message

CN is not always a friendly place for discussion, so you might be better off without it. But people should make their own decisions...

Thanks for that advise I was already getting that vibe.
What I find amusing is that all their “ hype” on the internet pretty much says that they are an “ inclusive “ but I don’t think so and so be it because I really like it here anyway !!
Again thanks for the heads up !😁

Nothing useful to add to this conversation other than to say I am amused by a "Jumbo Edition" of a "pocket" book.

Kind of like Jumbo Shrimp.
