Clear Outside is predicting clear skies tonight until 11 PM...FINALLY...It's supposed to be cold but I'm gonna set up anyway. I want to try out this telescope...It hasn't been a very good vacation so far. I've had a head cold all week and had very little energy. Fortunately, I feel a lot better today and would like to enjoy at least a bit of my time off...lol...

Congrats on the new gear mate! Tell us how your first light went!!

In my first half a year in this hobby it was mainly “where the heck am I” vibe, trying to find my way in the sky.

If you are going the star hopping way I’d recommend a 9x50 RACI finder. Really makes life much easier.

Let us know if you need any help along the way. These folks here held my hand from not finding Jupiter to completing the Messier List.

I’d also suggest that you pick easier targets first, like the planets, M42 and such and work your way up to the faint fuzzy stuff.

You were much better off than I've been. My vibe for the last 1.5 years has been "where the heck the night sky is", and "still the gear is not available". My mount is still in Germany being fixed.

Man, what taking them so long? Maybe in the mean time you can get binos or a small scope to observe?

Weather. It started to bind at a couple of degrees below zero, and they have managed to test it at about -3°C. We're waiting if there still happens to be some colder times for testing. If not, I have to take my chances. At the moment there's no such hurry. This is the worst month for looking up through a tube.

What else took time was the order times. About six months to get the mount. Then 3 months for a tri-pier that then needed a adapter plate, which I got 6 months later. Meanwhile I ordered tri-pier 360, which arrived a little earlier than the adapter plate and is much sturdier. And so on...

BTW, what do people here think about Optolong L-eNhance? I think L-eXtreme is a bit too steep?
