Opinions of the Celestron Star Sense LT 80 AZ Refractor
Someone in my local area here is selling one of these for $150 stating he’s only used it a few times.
Just wondering if this is more of a “ toy” than something serious and what should be the going price for something like this?
I ordered the Apertura AD8” from High Point Scientific, and awaiting its shipment but I was just curious about this scope ?
Thanks in Advance and I am so enjoying this site and the awesome people that are on this forum !

Gee if I had known there was so much to see I would have started decades ago !

Personally I would give it a pass.
The focuser is plastic and you would need to replace the poor quality diagonal as well.
The mount is likely a weak point as well.
The optics are usually alright, just let down by the cheap accessories.

Thank you for just reaffirming what I had already concluded, it’s amazing how if you just spend a little more you can get something like what I just ordered the Apertura AD 8”!
Everyone on this forum like yourself has been very helpful, senior members are already sending me some of the basic things I need like red film for flashlights and even an out of print but really nice( and pricey even used) night sky atlas, I’m floored by the kindness and generosity of the senior members here and everyone else this place rocks !!
