Nexdome

#1

Post by northforkman »

Hello...
I am a new member and was wondering if anyone has had experience with the purchase, setup and usage of a Nexdome backyard observatory. I am considering one and am in the process of doing my due diligence. Also, if you have another brand of backyard observatory, I would be interested in that as well. Thanks so much! :observatory:

Welcome, northforkman!

I don't have a Nexdome, but I have used an Exploradome for a few years. I am very happy with it. It needed some modification, with the addition of weather stripping around the shutter, to keep out blowing snow in winter. I have never had any rain come inside. The material is virtually indestructible.

Unfortunately, the pandemic seems to have affected their output. Some customers are reporting long waits for their domes. (Astronomy domes are a sideline for them. Their main business is in cattle shelters.)

I wish you good luck in your search for a dome.
