To answer Tony’s question about wavelets. I used the Gaussian format with linked wavelets, sliding all of the sliders from 1 to 6 in a reducing balanced curve (1 most, 6 least), adjusting the denoise and sharpening values until I have an image showing details that I believe to be true. Lol, a waffly way of saying trial and error . I asked for opinions on the two images because it’s always tricky to find the balance between actual detail and processing artefacts. Personally, I find that It’s real easy to overcook it, especially when the image is less than favourable to start with.

Re: Quick Jupiter and Co
Adjusting layer 1 and layer 6 in registax affects all layers, most often I use 1 & 6 to roughly tune and the tweak 2 to 5 to taste. About 0.15 for denoise. Sort of works for me on planets and lunar.
Oh, and an ADC (atmospheric dispersion corrector) I understand is highly recommended for planetary work. I say I understand as I don’t have one either
ZWO have a good one at a reasonable price… Just not reasonable enough for me, as I have spent all my brownie points with the missus currently

Re: Quick Jupiter and Co
I've never tried it on a planet, but use ImPPG for solar work. The Tone Curve Editor serves a similar function as Wavelets, but is easier to use in my opinion.Gmetric wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 11:21 pm To answer Tony’s question about wavelets.
