Spider build and UTA for an 18 inch scope

#1

Post by NGC 1365 »

Whipped this up on Saturday. We are in Covid lockdown for two weeks so I'm doing a few projects that have been in limbo for a while. Also re did an upper tube assembly from 4 supports to three as my existing setup is a 6 pole truss scope. Still have to make the vane threaded tube attachments.

Nice one Ivan. Looks good. For some reason, I thought you were located near Gundagai, not Greater Sydney.

Thanks Joe. I'm actually located in the upper Blue mountains at Medlow Bath. I wish I was located somewhere out west (maybe one day) the skies here are steadily getting worse as is the weather.

Ivan,
Weather has been bad everywhere. I have had two clear new moon weekends - May and July when coincidentally, I invited a group friends out for observing nights. Outside of that, there have been perhaps 5-10 other clear or semi clear nights since early May. This winter being a la niña year was slated to be wet. There'll be other years.

cheers

Joe
