Sorry, I don't have a set figure. @Gordon might know, he's my guru!
Sound advice Phill. I often Select all and Copy (Ctrl A Ctrl C) half way through a post when I'm jumping from tab to tab!

Re: Timed out ?
I feel your pain Mike. That has happened to me a few times (not on here but elsewhere), learning the hard way.Solsearcher wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:23 pm I am by no means fast at typing and it can sometimes take me a while to compose a message . Today I made a lengthy post about how I do my imaging and when I went to submit it I was taken to a page to sign in again . I signed back in and my message was gone .......... any way to recover it ?
When writing long posts now though I also do frequent copies to the clipboard, then paste them into Notes on my Mac. It is a quick and easy backup if for any reason you lose your original unfinished posting.
As Graeme suggested, pressing the Browser back button should usually work, but not always it seems :sigh:

If the sending fails due to the editing window expiration, you can return to the text with the return-button and copy the text. If the session closes, I think the session data may be lost, and the back-button may not work.
A way to keep the session going, is to let the server see, that you are there. Maybe open another window, and move from page to page every once in a while. The server doesn't see your typing. That happens locally on your machine. The server only sees the "submits".

Like I often use

Sometimes
and
for bolding
this is a quote with some bolding
