Is this safe way to carry a mount?
Gears OFF, locks ON. Without the counterweight bar and Tri-pier, of course.

Re: Is this safe way to carry a mount?
Always transport with the locks off. (allow free movement of all parts)
For lifting I would lift from one axis only so you are not bending the two axis towards each other.
How about a HPRC or Pelican case filled with foam instead for transport?

I have tried to find big enough case. Haven't found one yet.
The case needs to be 50 cm x 41 cm x 23 cm minimum. Even the biggest Geoptics bag is too small.
There are bigger hard suitcases, but I doubt they can handle 27 kg.
There are bigger boxes, but they tend to be of wrong shape to carry, like 40 cm x 50 cm x 70 cm.

You did not signify your measurements as WxHxD so am not sure if this would work.
I use HPRC cases for overseas air travel and they have survived considerable abuse by many airlines.

Re: Is this safe way to carry a mount?
Yes. I happened to find 3 candidates: Peli1610 (~600âŹ), Peli Storm IM2720 (~600âŹ) and HPRC 2710 (~449âŹ).Lady Fraktor wrote: âTue Mar 30, 2021 10:36 pm HPRC or Pelican cases would take the weight but are expensive though you are guaranteed your equipment will survive.
Now, if I find a seller in Europe... There's one in Finland, but, of course, their web shop is being updated.
Kind of stupid - just for carrying the mount head in and out the house.

I was thinking about that too - except that I'd have to make the bag myself. A piece of wood in the bottom and some foam on top of it. Nylon strap handles going under the whole bag. The straps are just P.I.T.A. to sew.

This should work nicely. To reduce the weight and provide extra cushion you can use the office/workshop black foam tiles instead of wood. Just cut to desired size.turboscrew wrote: âWed Mar 31, 2021 3:34 pmI was thinking about that too - except that I'd have to make the bag myself. I wonder if the tiles can keep the bottom flat under 27 kg?
A 40 cm piece of 1x6 wood with some foam on top of it should keep the bottom flat and spread the pressure.
Some foam could be glued on the sides too.

If you stack 2-3 at the bottom it will be flat enough, but wood/foam combo should work well to.
