Re: Not Good
To quote John "Hannibal' Smith - I love it when a plan comes together.
Enjoy the new binos.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.
The older I get, the better I was.
Celestron Nexstar+ 127 SLT, several budget plossl eyepieces, Celestron 8-24mm zoom EP and a 12.5mm illuminated double reticle EP, Svbony SV205 camera w/.5 focal reducer, Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 binos on a 40 yr old QuickSet PanHead tripod, Stellarium, Sharpcap and ManyCam on my laptop, SkyView and Nightshift on my phone and a dandy little $9 red-light flashlight.

Start saving up for an Obie TR3
I'm wondering about mine for the 25x100. The spec says 15kg. I Guess I'll find out when the time comes. I've got a rock bag for it. Maybe that'll help.

Plus I should get this - https://oberwerk.com/product/farpoint-u ... lar-mount/
And then convert that total of $630 US to Canadian which approx equals $790 in Canadian funds. Perhaps some day but NOT for my current binos but perhaps for THIS pair - https://oberwerk.com/product/oberwerk-bt-100xl-ed/

The BT100XL ED loks good But selling my wife on the idea of the NEED to replicate every thing in my eyepiece collection just would't float.
One thing I like aboutit and the Std. Bt100 is the picatinny rail for a finder.

Well, yea... A parallelogram mount looks nice and many like them but they are expensive and you still have to look up.AbbN wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 1:08 pmYou mean this - https://oberwerk.com/product/custom-bui ... rwerk-usa/Gulf Coast Guy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 5:45 am

I swear by my Tiltall tripod with a 44 lbs. capacity, photographer-designed rock solid old fashioned tripod, very affordably priced. I got mine for $35 at the RTMC (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... 4ee3527b0c). You will love it for daytime use too.
Because I get tired of looking up my next pair of binos will definitely be 90 degree semi-
To be honest I have to wait until the pea soup clears, I have a ton of gear and I sometimes wonder if will ever see a starry sky again from my home...

Re: Not Good
The legs have 4 segments with clips, the Tiltall has 3 with screws. The capacity is 9 lbs whereeas the Tiltall has 40 lbs. It is hard to convey the point, you have to see it and feel it. I have a photographer friend with a fancy carbon fiber tripod who is jealous.

Re: Not Good
Watch out on the weight on that hook. Most are spring supported and won't take more than 10# or so
I've got this for extra ballast weight. It does a pretty good job.

I actually have two 5lb ankle weights my son gave me that I usually put on my tripods. As you can see it can be attached to the tripod hookGulf Coast Guy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 2:55 pm

Geez, I just looked at the specs on the Obie 20x80s. 18 pounds?? Ay carumba.
