Jupiter June 18 2019

Post by Don Quixote »

I gave Jupitor a try on the 18th of June.

Meade LXD75 8 SCT with 12.5 KK ortho under my Nikon D810.
1/8 sec ISO 1000.
I small touchup in Photoshop.

It is sloppy I know....But it is the closest thing I have to a Planetary image so far.

OOOPS ! :o
I hit the wrong button. This was supposed to go in Solar Sytem images, Not Solar images.
Could one of the mods please move this post to the correct forum?
Thank you.

All the best,
Thank you Mark. The KK seemed to work pretty well. Visually the sky would only support the 12.5. I worked up my mag level untill it deteriorated and used the best EP that my visual observation revealed to put in front of the camera.

This was a bit of a pain. I was not using my motorized mount and had a lot of fun staying on target, focusing, and shooting. I do use a remote shutter so that helped. Next time I try this I am going to get my tracking set up so I can more easily control things. I tried to stack about 15 images that I snapped but it was a bear to align them by hand.
I had fun in the process. This single frame looks much better than the 15 that I tried to stack.

I also discovered that if I adjust the spacing a little with my camera adapter I might be able to increase my image scale a tad. I did not think of this untill I had finished shooting.

Next time I will fiddle with this idea and see if I am correct.

Thank you all for looking and for your encouragements.

And thank you Bryan for fixing my goof on the posting.
Cheers and clear skies to you all.
