Well, here's what happened when I tried to play with it.
First off, I have only done
AP with the Sun/Moon, so any processing from me would be, well, bad...
But I ran into the same thing JT did.
I downloaded the file, and first opened it with
Gimp, as it was the only thing I had that reads it. It opened... in greyscale. And as you can see in the colors tab, the options are limited.
Next I tried PhotoShop. Well, that didn't work, so a google search led me to this FITS Liberator program you folks have mentioned. I did not know a thing about that; neat stuff. Anyways, installed it, opened Bobs file, and got the same thing JT did, where the three planes are black and white. I have no idea what a plane even is; at least not in this
Alright, I saved it as a TIFF file so I could give it a whirl with PhotoShop. Open it, and this is what it showed; i'm assuming Grey/16# is greyscale at 16 bit?
If I go to Image, then Mode, I can change it to whatever color is listed. But is that the way it should be?
That's my 2 cents, but again, I've never given this a go, so it might be something I'm doing wrong; or JT and I are just cursed
Maybe i'll try some of the files from the previous processing challenges and see how that goes
Have a good day all,
