Excellent review!
As the owner of a 10X30 IS II, I recognize a lot in this review. Especially when it comes to astro ( and day) observation, stabilized binoculars stand out head and shoulders above unstabilized siblings, so is my experience. For example, I use my stabilized 10X30 uninhibitedly for astro-observation, although I have a fine unstabilized 10X50 at my fingertips. In this review, we find examples of this sort of sublime observations aplenty.
In addition, there is sufficient attention to the "cons" to provide a balanced view of the possibilities.

The frequency response of IS is by design, targeted at muscle tremor and shakes. It's the same for camera IS. They don't have enough image shift to correct for large body movements. If they did, you would have to turn off the IS before changing targets. I pointed this out in a discussion on a solar eclipse mailing list when these were first released and some suggested that IS binoculars would cancel out the problem of ship roll and pitch for ship based solar eclipse observers.
