Thanks very much for posting this article, JT, but ...

I cannot read the gray text on black background (that's how it shows up for me). If this is not an issue unique to me, please consider re-posting as black text on white background. If this issue *is* unique to me, I would appreciate any advice on how to fix it!

Same here, I wanted to read it but it's just too painful on the eyes. Black on white please!

Also here JT, it's a bit of an eye strain - thanks for the work though.

Me 4!

All the articles in all my web browsers show the same dark gray background with black text. The management knows of this issue and we are working to see if there is a solution.

Cheers,
JT

Ideally, don’t specify colour at all. Let the reader’s preferences select the colours.

Hi Kathy,

It doesn't matter what board style you choose or what browser you use. My board style is Simplicity steel blue and all of my display pages on everything else on this website is a white background. The second I open any article in the articles section of this website, every article displays as dark gray background with black type. I've never asked it to display any color whatsoever.

Cheers,
JT

I tricked the article editor into displaying the text (most of it anyway) in yellow print. It is now much easier to read. Let me know if you see the yellow text.

Cheers,
JT

YAY! Gordon fixed all the articles to show a white background with black print in Firefox and IE. If you are a Chrome user please tell me if you see the new white background or the old black background? Chrome, for me, still shows the black background.

Thanks,
JT

UPDATE: Chrome needed a hard refresh to display the articles correctly on my machine (just learned something new), so now all is well in browser land. jt

:text-thankyouyellow: Hey JT thanks for your work on getting the issue sorted, even nicer work on the article. I wish I'd read this a couple of years back.

Safari on my MacBook Pro required that I flush out the cache & cookies for the TSS site, but now I can see the articles as black text on white background.

Thanks very much, Gordon, for all you do to keep this place running great!

I had that same problem this morning and had to look up how to do a "hard" refresh on my Droid Chrome. Basically, go to the article, go offline (turn off wifi, and Mobil Data), touch the 3 dots at the top right corner, and then touch the circular looking reload icon. Then stop Chrome and then restart Chrome and don't forget to turn the wifi and mobile data back on. That's what fixed my browser from showing the dark gray background to white.

Hope this helps,
JT

I'll try that next time and presume it works. I read the article when it was in yellow. Fine over all though the bulleted style interrupts the flow somewhat.

Personally I would not recommend beginners to start out with 80 mm because not all beginners are the same. We have seen one (geethq) who did fabulous work with an 8" Newt on an AVX. I would also differentiate the Deep Sky into small (galaxies) and larger objects, SCTs definitely have a place there. But it's an interesting and appealing read good for those starting out.

Thanks for sharing!
