Added seven more to my Messier list, just fifteen left. Will have to wait for Spring and Summer to get them. Imaged in wide field the Winter M's, all open clusters, M34, 41, 48, 50, 52, 93, 103. Same setup for each, DeadCat 250mm f4.5 Vivtar coupled to Zwo Asi1600MC-cool camera. All 5/1min exposures at gain 200, offset 50, temp -20C, Baader Fringe Killer filter, unguided, mounted on top of my Bigdog 16. Clear skies,

That M52 was 'discovered' in my Bubble Nebula folder, one of those accidental Messier.

Well what do you know, ran across another 'accident', M89, in the corner of an image centered on M58. Not the best, bit off-axis, but it's there never the less. NGC's 4550/1 are at the bottom of frame.
Taken last Spring with my 80 APO and Asi1600Mc camera, 46 minutes in 2 minute subs.

Deadcat... for what you paid for it, it works really well. I see a few of those lenses on ebay; I wonder if I could hook one up to my Canon...

Actually been a poor Winter for imaging, just caught a break for a couple nights.

The Vivtar lens is an old T mount type, so will fit any camera with a T adapter. But, is not an APO design, blue is hard to tame and quite a bit of astigmatism in the edges, critical focus is hard to get right too. I'm sure the real RedCats are much better.

I didn't hear a report from the groundhog, sure it is only 44 days to Spring?

Hi Steve. Sorry to come in late here. You have beautiful gallery of Messier objects here. Excellent contrast and sparkly/colorful stars in your images. Thanks for your update Steve, and the best of wishes on the final remainder of your "Messier Mission".

I thought about just setting up on a night when there really isn't a particular target in mind, and shooting Messier images. I think that I have accumulated 21 or 22 Messiers so far, but I think that I can do justice to some globs and OC's with a minimal amount of stacked images.

Is a Messier Photo Award the goal?

Like Mark, I wish for some clear skies. The last clear night here was the evening before the Superbowl (close to two weeks).

Messier Photo Award was never the goal, but when looking in my files, I noticed that I was 80% of the way there by accident. So, why not just get the rest, mostly open clusters, got most now, and summertime globs, some quite far south for me to image at my latitude, but I'll give it a try later this year.
