Here's a start then. 14/110!

Is it possible to start a seperate gallery just for my Messier Images? Or do I post them here?

Regards

Graeme

You can start a new album on your profile page, or you can post them here to this thread, or both. Your pleasure, Graeme. :)

Here's the first batch then:

app.php/gallery/album/188

The log says 14 but there's only 13 images because M51 wasn't too successful. I'll have another go when the sky clears.

Graeme

One of the Messier objects added to the list above was M46. It was pleasing to catch the Planetary Nebula NGC2438 in the image. I saw it whilst capturing and had to do a search to find out what it was! It would make a good target for the 9.25 when I get it back.

Thanks Pakarinen

I've still not processed them all yet! I did them the same exposure and iso so as to use the same darks and bias.

Here's M81 and two of his mates:

The quality is not 100% using the 80mm guide scope but it's the first time I've captured three galaxies in one image!

36/110

I've just got round to processing the 12/03/20 captures. It would seem that something went wrong on the night because my M47 image turned out to be M46! So my total is 35/110 not 36!

Might get some more tonight. The 9.25 is back and the sky will be clear.

Graeme

A quick grab of photons might be ok for the winter globular clusters and open clusters but even a 300 second exposure at 3200 iso is too faint and noisy for anything but a dim indication for these spring galaxies! Going to have to spend more time on each of these as the list progresses! Shame this batch all had a dust blob in the same place on each one!

M47 - M47 is a bit too large and spread out for the 600D FOV
M47-Autosave-s.png

M63 - Bright core, visible outer core and some fuzzy faintness in an elliptical surround. Still too noisy 20 x 280 seconds lights at 3200iso. Going to have to try longer exposures at lower iso for these spring galaxies.
M63-Autosave-s.png

M65 - Another faint fuzzy at 300 seconds but a nice bright core and a hint of spiral arms.
M65-Autosave-s.png

M66 - All looking good with some faint spiral arms visible but then I lost the guiding half way into the first capture. Just spotted a stacking artifact that needs sorting on this one.
M66-Autosave-s.png

M97 - Well pleased to see a faint smudge on the screen as soon as the telescope stopped moving. I used the APT aim function to center the target and set the guiding going. Just captured a couple of 500 second images. The Owl face has a lovely hue, definitely coming back to this one another night.

M109 - Some nice spiral structure visible

Thanks for looking.

Very nice images Graeme!

I would be proud of a set like this!

Congratulation on the M40 photo award!
