I guess some people live in a very strange and scary place.
I know several people who live off the grid, by choice.
Scary? No
Strange? No.
I agree with you Jim. Lots of folks prefer to live off the grid, and I am one of them. That is why I still have an old flip phone! Lol! I don't want a "smart" phone that tracks my activity. My father and mother in-law were very proud of their new Alexa system in their house, that is until they found out that it was listening in on their daily conversations. Technology can be and is being abused. People used to say that George Orwells "1984" was mere paranoia. Yet, how many times have people been surfing the internet and their computer "second guessed" them? VERY FEW companies (and most political figures for that matter) Have YOUR best interest at heart. Every aspect of our lives are being monitored. That's not paranoia, that's a fact. If a person is comfortable with that I am happy for them and respect their opinion, but they really shouldn't belittle those of us who are not. Just MY opinion. Bill
Bill,

You nailed that one on the head. If people had full comprehension of just how much of their personal information was out there they would and should be very scared. I read an article at least a year back discussing those fake cell phone tower units(Stingray) that the police and feds use, and the author of said article tested for these units in the Seattle area alone, and found many dozens of these units in use in that general area, basically covering all of Seattle. These units are designed to listen to all phone calls, intercept all texts, and they even have the ability to break encryption. They call them Stingrays. Anyways, we are living in very scary times, if one has privacy concerns and constitutional concerns, I do believe they should be scared. 1984 is here and has been here for quite some time. I do fear many of our rights are being trampled on, and in time it will all slowly come out, but afraid it may not be fast enough. Technology can be a great thing at the same time it is very easy for those with power or knowledge to abuse.

The latest update to the original post, I see that the American Astronomical Society has done a great job posting response to Mr. Musk about concerns on the deployment of all these satellites in our skies. They did a good job coming up with a solid response.

See article HERE. This article was on 10 June 2019.

This past Saturday night about 12:30 AM EDT, 4 of us where at a dark sky site observing. We saw 3 objectives in a row traveling from south to the north east. They where going through M11 the Wild Duck cluster. When I got home I checked on the location of the SpaceX Starlink. It should have been further to the west, so we assumed that wasn't it. One of the guy's found this article and it has us wondering.

I was in the Wild duck Cluster and saw them as well. 3 in a row. One after another. My first thought was, "well il be...could that be some
Starlinks?"

Nice coincidence that someone some place else saw them too. But it also goes to disprove Elon Musk that we won't see them after dark.

Did you see them naked eye or through a scope?

I would assume naked eye, if three of you saw them.

If they're starting to lose track of the satellites already the Kessler effect might be nearer than we thought!

The UK Royal Astronomical Society has expressed concern:

Some people don't understand why I love astronomy so much, I cannot understand why they do not!
