SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launch Thursday Afternoon.

#1

Post by Makuser »

Hi all. Here are some photos that I took from my backyard of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch Thursday (Jan. 6) afternoon at 4:49 pm EST from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It was a beautiful launch to see but the bad news for professional and amateur astronomers is that it was carrying 49 more Starlink satellites into orbit. I hope that all of you enjoy these photos.

You were so lucky Marshall to have been able to see that launch live - it must have been awesome.

Thanks very much for sharing, Marshall!

From Space.com:
"SpaceX lofts 49 Starlink internet satellites to orbit in 1st launch of 2022"

https://www.space.com/spacex-starlink-l ... nuary-2022

"This launch brings the total number of the flat-paneled Starlink satellites up to almost 2,000. "

I have a love-hate relationship with Spacex. On the one hand, their booster recovery is the coolest thing ever. On the other hand, they are using it to pollute low Earth Orbit.

Oh boy. 49 more starlink satellites. My nephew is moving to Austin from Fremont, CA to work at Tesla's Cyber truck factory. He is a robotics software engineer currently at Tesla in Fremont. He's hoping to transfer to SpaceX at some point.
