Newfound Comet ATLAS is getting really bright, really fast
From Space.com:
"For years, amateur astronomers have been waiting for a bright, naked-eye comet to pass by Earth — and finally, such an object may have arrived. "

Here's hoping for some great observing coming up!

I drink tea, I read books, I look at stars when I'm not cursing clouds. It's what I do.

Here is where you can get ephemeris data on it:
I use an interval of 1 hour and 24 dates to get a 24 hour list of positions.

Re: Newfound Comet ATLAS is getting really bright, really fast
Tom Ruen made an intriguing graphic that was used in Sky & Telescope's article about Atlas. He extended the time frame so that parallax was evident in the comet's travels across the sky.

I agree Jim. When it was high in the sky as a naked eye object I was living in Georgia, working late and driving home - just spectacular!

I remember Kohoutek in high school and the disappointing Halley, but I was occupied with getting divorced in 1997, so H-B wasn't on my radar screen at the time. Should have checked it out.
