new Altair 150EDF APO

#1

Post by altair_astro »

Hi Guys, just a quick update, we have a new 150EDF APO in the production pipeline, after several months of testing and configuration we are taking pre-orders, information is here:

Altair 150EDF APO Doublet

This month's edition of Sky at Night Magazine just published a review, so grab a copy.

My optician is working on a reducer/flattener as well which should be ready in about 2 months time.

First lenses ship in Dec and January. If you want to be on the pre-order list let me know by PM.

All scopes come with our usual test report.

Best, Nick

Is there an estimate for when this might be available for purchase in the USA?

We ship internationally and I've already taken some orders. I'd say probably January but it all depends on how many orders we build up. It takes a little time to set up and test the objectives as spacing is critical to get a good Strehl so difficult to give customers an accurate date - I'm maintaining a no obligation list at the moment.

What will be the minimum strehl ratio that we can expect for this this scope?
Also are there any more pictures available. The focuser end of the scope looks a little different than a typical 6 inch refractor.

I just read the Sky at night review and saw the picture. The reduced tube at the back of the scope is a little unusual.
The review mentions that the dew shield can be set in place with an Allen hex key. Does it actually retract or does it have to be completely removed when storing or transporting the scope?

It looks like a very interesting frac. If I hadn't purchased a slightly used AR152 in May of 2018 I'd consider it. Hope the launch is successful
