Re: new iOptron GEM45 mount incoming
I don't suppose they give any kind of release date on this?
I tried getting the iEQ45 Pro just after they "ran out" and no one seemed to carry them anymore.
Website still says "out of stock", so I have been waiting for the replacement since about April.

Re: new iOptron GEM45 mount incoming
I see where iOptron now officially has the GEM45 on their website. The price is the same as the CEM40 with the 2" tripod ($2098)
Doing a comparison between the two, the ONLY difference I see is that the GEM45 carries 45lbs vs CEM40 with 40 lbs.
The tripod for the GEM45 is also only 1-3/4". It should be a 2" hands down if it is going to carry more weight. I am kind of torn between the two.
I have a 9.25"SCT and a 6" Mak I use for imaging planets and moon. I also use the 9.25" for observing DSO 's.
I don't do anyDSO imaging so the 50% weight factor everyone seems to use goes out the window for me.
I need to replace my aging CG5-AST. SO, I think at the end of the month I am going to go for the CEM40 with the 2" tripod. I don't see where that extra
5 lbs is going to gain me anything at all.
