Exactly what do you do with the mount and what kind of results are expected?Bino-Handle wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 7:04 am I have rebuilt my Celestron AVX tripod and offer to make yours better than new as well.
I feel that I have a "good" AVX and I am curious what can make it better.
Do you rebuild the
Thanks.
Jim

Re: Celestron AVX tripod rebuilds, more!
Hi Jim,
Tripod rebuild for now, using larger wall tubing while heavier makes a big difference in stability, but what this does best is keep the tubes round and no bends, dents or slips in the tubing cranking down the stay screws. The provided tubing can also get stuck retracted or extended as was what happened to mine.
The stay screw metal stays can move out of position and need to be secured and lubed in many cases.
Lastly, all aluminium parts can also be powder coated either white or black which makes them better than new as well with more durability.
The tripod disassembles easily enough with an allen wrench to remove existing stainless tubing for shipment. All its remaining parts can even be mailed in an extra large bubble mailer if being painted.
Thank you for your interest.
Ted

Also available is this tray upgrade to the AVX. This allows binoculars to be mounted safely with velcro or eyepieces easy access.
Perhaps best of all the batteries can finally be stored out of the way of the telescope!

Anytime!
Much cheaper to do a run of several. Maybe get 10 going on a list of same color. New tripod from Celestron is much more expensive, not as stable or as functional, and no stock anyway in foreseeable future.

Other stainless steel tripods welcome, just don't have as to confirm sizing and removal of piping for shipping, but should be similar enough, and/or can acquire size. Repair damaged worn tripods and make them better than new.

Re: Celestron AVX tripod rebuilds, more!
Forgot to add the original feet need to come off to go on the new thicker tubes. These come off easily enough with a block of scrap wood nestled on top of the foot and taps on the wood with a hammer. Hold the wood block on top cross grain or the wood will split - cuts out.
These feet also have a tendency to come off from the factory.
Not so, Bino-Handled
I've got a few customers on the list waiting to make a run of ten!
