If you have any suggestions for the March 2020 Monthly Challenge, we invite you to post them in this topic.
The topic will be closed at the end of February 2020 and the suggestions put into a draw to determine a winner!

Remember that we need suggestions for both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres!
Also remember the 9th magnitude limit please.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

My candidate is Hind's crimson star, R Leporis. It is located south of Orion at declination -15° and is currently a mag 6.7 star. Given its declination it should probably go into the South objects bin, but it would be visible all the way up through Central Europe and the northern US.

Cheers,
JT

NGC2903, the one that Messier missed.

May I propose NGC2403, Caldwell 7, in Camelopardalis, the other one Messier missed.

And perhaps for the southern hemisphere group, the multi coloured open cluster M46.

Regards

Graeme

Northern Hemisphere: NGC 2238-2239 Nebula (2238) with Open Cluster (2239): The cluster is an easy visual target and the nebula is an easy AP target.

Southern: I agree with the choice of M46 already suggested.

How about M64 (The Black Eye Galaxy)

It should be nicely visible on both sides and Mag 8.5

:)

It seems to me that we are supposed to suggest TWO targets -- one for the northern hemisphere and one for the southern.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, if you only have one suggestion that is fine.
If you have two targets in mind then feel free to suggest them.

Joe, from your vantage point both targets in either hemisphere should be doable.

Feel free to select targets for only one hemisphere or both and remember the 9th magnitude limit.
