Target Suggestions for February 2020

#1

Post by Graeme1858 »

Not trying to usurp but to be fair I probably have more spare time on my hands than most people around here at the moment!

Can I propose M1, the Crab Nebular again for the February Challenge before it moves too far west? The new Moon is 23rd February, I'm hoping to be fit for it by then.

Regards

Graeme

Thanks for the suggestion Graeme.

The Moderation team are currently working on a new format for the monthly challenge. As soon as we have the new format finalized we will resume the challenges. :D

I know we are in the minority but if possible one must consider the Southern Hemisphere as well : M1 happens to be well situated for us presently and peaks at a height of nearly 40 degrees after 20H00....I will definitively put it on my list...I just hope that we will have good weather.
Thanks Graeme

Hello Piet

M1 hits the meridian at 2040 at about 60N here, so it's an ideal UK target too.

But the monthly competition is being re-jigged so we'll have to post in the AP deep sky section instead!

Regards

Graeme
