April TSS Challenge: NGC3372 From Diego Garcia, BIOT

Post by chartram »

Hello,

I am not sure this is "submittable" being an older photo. This was shot between 2014 and 2015 during my year in Diego Garcia, an atoll 7 degrees south of the equator in the middle of the British Indian Ocean Territory. I was able to spend more time on this target than any other during that time, and would LOVE to someday go back and add some luminance to this RGB data. It is a truly stunning object both through the eyepiece and with a camera.

The image below was a 2017 reprocess after learning a few new tricks from fellow forum members. Scope was my trusty Orion ED80 and the camera was the SBIG STF-8300C at -10C on an AVX mount.

The colors -- but especially the shades of blue -- are so bright. Excellent.
