March Challenge - Rosette Nebula from Kent UK

#1

Post by Graeme1858 »

We had a clear sky last night so I topped up my Messier tally and then pointed the 80mm guide scope at the Rosette. Nice image of the NGC 2244 cluster but it seems 20, 100 second unguided exposures fails to capture the nebulosity of NGC 2237. I left the vignetting to make it look like I caught the rosette more than I did!

20 x 100 second lights at 3200iso
10 x darks
20 x bias
Canon 600D
IDAS LP Filter (First Light (Thanks Tom))
APT
DSS
Gimp

Thanks

Regards

Graeme

Well, you got something there that is definitely the beginning of a capture for the nebula.

Cheers Joe. There is a faint hint of nebulosity! The only way I could improve it would be to use my main scope as a guide scope and get some longer exposures on the 80mm!

Regards

Graeme

Great image!

There is a faint hint at the nebula that may be coaxed out a little more.
Eyeballs, binoculars, sketch box, Scopes n stuff.

The nebulosity is right there trying to come through!

Really nice ngc2244!

Thanks

Maybe I'll try a 9 panel mosaic with the 9.25, next year!

Regards
