December 2020 Monthly Challenge

#1

Post by Graeme1858 »

A big thank you to all of you that put forward suggestions for the December 2020 monthly challenge! :text-thankyoublue:

The target suggestions for the December Challenge were put through a random number generator and we have our winners!

The Northern Target for December is NGC7635, proposed by me!

The Southern Target for December is NGC1316, proposed by Alan kt4xh.

"NGC 7635, also known as the Bubble Nebula, Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11, is an H II region emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. It lies close to the direction of the open cluster Messier 52. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot, 8.7 magnitude young central star, SAO 20575." Wikipedia

"NGC 1316 is a lenticular galaxy about 60 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax. It is a radio galaxy and at 1400 MHz is the fourth-brightest radio source in the sky." Wikipedia

We hope that you have fun finding these targets and we look forward to seeing your reports, sketches or images of either or both.

Have fun out there!!!

Regards

Graeme
