SkySafari 6 Pro has stopped connecting to my Meade LX200GPS

#1

Post by obrienp1 »

Slightly off topic but my SkySafari 6 Pro has stopped connecting to my Meade LX200GPS via SkyFi following a change of batteries. The program on SSP6 tells me the connection has failed. Still have all my data but can’t control my scope using SSP6 Have worked my way through all the troubleshooting tips that I can find but nothing works. Have installed new batteries on whole system including the button battery Cr2032 in the base of the scope and on SkyFi. The only thing I can see that might be an issue is the clip holding the CR2032 in place seems a little slack but the scope still works fine on its own.
Any advice gratefully received
Kind regards Paul OB

Hi Paul and welcome to TSS!

I've taken the liberty of making your post it's own thread. Hopefully someone with some experience in this regard can chime in. :)

Are your scope and your phone on the same network?

Thanks Jay
Yes I do have an IPhone with the app installed but I prefer to use my IPad for scope control. They all share the same network. Have tried the app on both the IPhone and IPad and temporarily got a connection on the IPad a few hours ago but it dropped out after a few minutes and have not managed to get it back. Have never been able to get a connection via the IPhone and gave up trying several years ago. I have noticed that the IP address now seems to fluctuate in the range from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.5. Previously it remained on 10.0.0.1

Have now solved my connection problem by deleting the SSP6 app from all my devices and reinstalling again just on my IPad. Managed to save all my observing data and only lost the technical stuff related to my equipment which I have now reinstated
Thanks again for the advice and comments.
Kind regards PaulOB
