I watched all 3 Forrest Tanaka's videos on astrophotography and he mentioned PHD. I believe PHD2 is out. Which is better?

I think you’ll find whilst still relevant, Tanakas videos are now quite dated.
PHD2 is the way to go. Tested, proven and used by lots of us on here.

I have used both. PHD2 has all the features of PHD along with a bunch of new features. I have seen the Tanaka videos and really like them. At the time this video came out PHD2 wasn't available yet. I recommend using PHD2. You can always step back if there is a reason to, but I'll be surprised if there is one.

PHD2 is the best choice, since PHD is no longer supported. 2 also has better drift alignment and calibration routines.
