APT control Skywatcher mount with Starsense?

#1

Post by Larry 1969 »

Hello all!
Like the title says.... I'm trying to use the plate solving feature in APT. Up until now I have only used APT for camera control.
I've recently picked a few targets that I couldn't identify after a single 30 sec ISO 6400 exposure so I thought plate solving might be the answer.
I'd like to use APT to control my mount (Skywatcher dob) and still retain my Celestron Starsense (for Skywatcher).
In the past I had configured Stellarium to control my mount (through the hand controller) but not with the Starsense.
I downloaded and installed the plate solving programs so far and was wondering if anyone could provide some useful info as to what else may be needed.
Nothing but clouds here so I have time to experiment.

Thanks!

Larry

As long as your mount has the proper ASCOM drivers loaded, APT will recognize this and allow you to slew the mount or select from go to objects or plate solving will allow you to sync the mount.

Thanks JayTee!
I was fooling around in the basement and actually got the mount connected and slewed to a target.
I just wasn't sure if I needed to configure it for a Skywatcher mount or Celestron (since I'm connecting through the hand controller).
Looking forward to experimenting with it!
