SGP sequence start time

#1

Post by KathyNS »

I want my sequence to start at 1:00 am, when the CDS chart says the sky should be clear. How do I set a sequence start time?

I can set a Start Capturing time on a specific target, but then I would have to click the Run Sequence button in daylight. When I google the subject I see lots of people complaining that it tries to plate solve right away when you do that, obviously failing because it is still light outside.

I see that there is a clock icon under the Target List in the Sequence View, but it is grayed out. My guess is that that is where I would set a sequence start time, but how do I enable it? I can't find anything useful in the help files.

There's got to be a way to do it, otherwise what's the point of automation software?

P.S. It's nearly 8:00 now. An answer by 10:00 would be most helpful!

Well, I got brave and experimented. It looks like the target start time is the way to do it. When I hit Run, it connected PHD, but didn't try to do anything. It says it is waiting until 1:00 to go to work.

After a little checking, did you put "time constraints" in each target you have checked?

We posted simultaneously. Yes, and it looks like that is the only way to do it. Seems to be doing the right thing (i.e. nothing yet).

It did indeed. After I clicked 'Run', it sat there until the prescribed time, then ran the sequence. I independently scheduled the dome to open and track the scope at the same time as the sequence start. Within SGP, I had it run a script at the end of the sequence to close the dome. I forgot to tell it to park the mount at the end, so it was still tracking when I woke up this morning. Other than that one omission, the session went flawlessly, with me sound asleep. :)

While I haven't tried it, the mount can be instructed to Park once the session is over, right from within SGP.

I'm on personal quest to get SGP working with a couple different camera options. But I should start another thread for that, it's been a challenge (yup, "challenge" is the right word for not getting banned on the forum) :o

Yes it can. I simply forgot to check that option. I thought I had done it, but apparently not. I'll get it tonight, though :)
