iPad, SkySafari, and Dew

I guess this goes into this forum. :Think:

For those out there that use SkySafari for your observing, how do you handle dew and not getting the iPad (or iPhone) wet? Is it an issue I should not worry about?

I was thinking of just stuffing it into a ziploc bag. Or logging on paper, then transferring to SkySafari.

I use my smartphone and it has a Tech21 case that is water-resistant plus I just turn my phone over so the screen is pointing down. Other than that, I don't worry about it.

I use old bath towels as tablecloths on my observing tables. If the dew is particularly rough, I cover the iPad with a corner of the towel. I usually do not have to do this. The iPad tends to keep itself warm enough to stave off the dew from my experience.

I have a couple of solutions.

I use an iPad4 mini and my jackets have pockets big enough to hold it.

I also have a hatchback. I disconnect the cords attached to the hatch and the shelf that acts as a lid for the luggage area stays down making a table at a perfect standing height. The ipad and other things sit on that while I am observing.



I also sometimes leave it inside the cabin sitting on the dashboard.
