SkySafari Pro 4 user, how good is Pro 6?
Hey guys,
I'm heading out on my road trip tomorrow and worked out some observing lists in SkySafari. It got me wondering what they have been up to. I see they are up to 6 now. I was thinking of upgrading but was wondering if anyone knows the main differences/features that have been added or changed compared to Pro 4? If you use it (and have used older versions) what are your opinions?
I checked out the change log but it's hard comparing the features and usability for a version older than the direct previous version. It's also hard to evaluate any improved (or decreased) usability just from the change logs.

Re: SkySafari Pro 4 user, how good is Pro 6?
I like 5 Pro a lot better than 4 Pro. I have 6 Pro now but find I am using 5 Pro more. Mainly this is due to two things: a) I like the formatting of the data when I email my observing notes to myself better with 5 than with 6, and b) I like the way I can measure angular distance between objects better with 5 than 6. That's it.
Been so long since I've used 4 Pro that I don't remember. Seems like one of the main improvements was correct observation time when you log an entry. Seems like that was an issue with 4. Likely some database enhancements.
A two version jump might throw you for a small loop though unless you still have access to 4 if you get into a pinch on your trip.
Worth the upgrade in my mind. I've been a heavy user of SS Pro for a few years now.

Thanks Bryan! I decided to grab 6 and so far I like it. Definitely keeping 4 installed for now too. Still trying to get it all setup and tweaked.

Re: SkySafari Pro 4 user, how good is Pro 6?
I plan on getting 6 Pro soon - just waiting for their next sale - which I expect to happen either for Independence Day, or the 50th of Apollo 11.
Skipped 5 completely, kind of like you - I have the low end version of 6 on my iPad right now (they offered for free for a spell a while back) and 4+ on my MacBook.
I also bought a year subscription (it was $9.99 for the year) to LiveSky - I am currently going through my old observations and added them there - assuming that they will carry over into 6 Pro when I get it (which seems to be the indication of what will happen )

Awesome! Yeah, so far I'm really liking 6. I like that my observing lists are automatically backed up to LiveSky. Might have to get the premium subscription now!

I have 5 pro and 6 pro. Unlike Bryan, I prefer 6 pro. It's added features over 5 is what sold me.
Cheers,
