Manual Rotator with SG Pro

#1

Post by starfield »

I've recently started working on a new mosaic project and want to get a better handle on how to use the manual rotator. Right now, I've got it set in my sequence and it pops up ahead during the sequence which sometimes require a fair amount of fiddling.

I'd rather get my camera rotation set before I even start my sequence and was looking for a way to do this manually in SGP ahead of running the sequence. I imagine there's a way but can seem to figure out how to invoke the rotator outside of the framing and mosaic wizard. Any tips?

Thanks.

Here's a stab in the dark!

APT shows the camera view directly in Stellerium. NINA shows an angle of rotation after plate solving which you can put into the framing assistant.

Does SGP do either of these?

Regards

Yes, it does both. +1 on this suggestion!

APT will also show camera orientation in CdC and SkyTech X after a plate solve.

Yes . I use the plate solver as part of a sequence. Just not sure how to run it standalone. I’ll try and do more digging

One way to work through this is to plate solve in SGP, then take a quick exposure in an independent sequence, say 10-30sec, and save the image. Open the image (Nebulosity or a FITS reader, e.g.), and have a look at the FITS header, keyword ANGLE. In this case, it's 116.87*:--
