Beautiful night last night, clearing after midnight. I set my sequence to start a reasonable time after midnight, and went to bed. Woke up to a beautiful, clear morning, with no dew. And one - count it, one - frame saved. It turned out that a lingering cloud had blocked the guide star, causing the sequence to abort. @#$%!!
I had always had recovery enabled, giving me that annoyingly vague "Something Terrible Has Happened" screen, and having it attempt every ten minutes for 90 minutes. But then I realized that, on the occasions when my rain/dew detection had closed the dome, also causing a lost guide star, that I had had no on-screen indication of an attempted recovery. So I checked into the options, and found that recovery was turned off. Argh!
There's no way I would have turned it off intentionally. I upgraded
SGP versions a few months ago. Might that have turned it off?
Oh, well 15 minutes down, 555 minutes to go.
