Planetary Android Phone Camera App

#1

Post by paticpatic »

I am interested in using my Android Phone mounted on my ETX-125 for taking pictures of the planets. Can you suggest a good "free" app to provide manual control of the camera? Also, suggest the manual settings for shooting the planets? I plan on using DeepSkyStacker to combine my images as I think thats the best way to improve the quality.
Thanks Kevin

Hi I've been playing with AstroCam and DeepSkyCamera. Both in beta but available in the Play Store for free as of now. I'm still learning myself so maybe can't help well on the settings but I believe ISO4-800, manual focus and play around with shutter speeds to get what you want. Take multiple photos and stack, or try taking video.
