They do come up with interesting questions.

I'd say any value you place on Virgin Galactic is merely speculative. SpaceX, and to a lesser extent Blue Origin, have actual products and services on-offer as do several smaller players. For those companies, you have a starting point for any cash flow projections and potential for understanding their eventual profit potential.

To make matters worse, the businesses that pump money into Sir Richard's portfolio and prop up Virgin Galactic are likely to take a hit from the nascent recession.

tl;dr "yes"
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
