It is getting on in years.

One legacy of Hubble I don't think people appreciate is the popular support it helped generate for science in general and space science in particular. Hubble images have helped to communicate the beauty and grandure of the universe to humans in a way few other projects can match.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
