Anyway, he made a good point regarding space exploration that it is safer and easier to send rovers into space and to land on planets to get various samples rather than sending astronauts out there.
It makes sense, especially to get to the farthest reaches of space. Humans in space for years at a time is not really practical.
The Mars missions appear to be getting great results from the rover, which bears out what Brian Cox was saying.
