Virgin Galactic Virgin Crewed Flight

#1

Post by Graeme1858 »

The “Unity 22” mission will be the twenty-second flight test for VSS Unity and the Company’s fourth crewed spaceflight. It will also be the first to carry a full crew of two pilots and four mission specialists in the cabin, including the Company’s founder, Sir Richard Branson, who will be testing the private astronaut experience.

I'm on the "live" stream, but it's still only showing a splash screen...

Looks like they're really going live now...

smp

UPDATE:
Well it's a pre-recorded stream right now. Looks like it's meant to take up the first 30 minutes...

smp

Another UPDATE:
I refreshed the browser window and finally connected to the real live stream. It appears the crew is aboard and flying with the mother-aircraft now.

smp

Another UPDATE:
At about 11:19 EDT, they said that the craft was about 6 minutes away from release.

Seems like they are not going to show a live feed of the craft continuously; maybe it will pick up when the capsule/plane separates. Kind of like a commercial for Virgin Galactic.

The NASA-TV feed went back and forth between their own delayed and the Virgin actual live.
But I captured it in screenshots from the NASA feed and logged it to my own blog.

Jeff Bezos is taking 82-year old Wally Funk. I worked the launch when John Glenn went up on STS-95. I knew then that he would not be last 80-year old in space. I'm standing in line...
